Alexis is Uptick’s resident Local SEO expert. Her communication skills, strategic mindset, and love of learning have made her a natural fit for an area of marketing that’s always changing. Despite being an introvert at heart, Alexis still lights up a room with her sense of humor, quick wit, and expert insights.
If you’d ask to describe her upbringing in one word, she’d reply: busy. She grew up in a family of five girls, participated in dance teams, competed in the marching band, produced her high school news show, and led the charge in many group projects during her studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Whew—we’re tired just talking about it!
Although she loves living here, Alexis is not a native of the Birmingham area. She has moved more than 15 times and has lived in four states: Utah, Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama. Alexis landed in the Magic City in 2018 to pursue a degree in public relations and communications at UAB and quickly fell in love with the city. She jumped right into the marketing world in Birmingham through social media internships and public relations campaigns through college.
After graduating in 2020, Alexis began working as a social media manager for a local bakery. While trying to resist the temptation of all those cakes and cupcakes, she quickly learned the power of written communication and its ability to amplify a business’s main message. That experience was part of a marketing career that now spans several years and includes work in social media, nonprofit marketing, content creation, and SEO.
Alexis was initially hired for our social media team, but she moved to our SEO team shortly thereafter, where her writing and strategy skills eventually evolved into an unexpected passion and specialty in Local SEO.
Today, as our SEO Content Strategist, Alexis helps clients establish or improve their local search presence—enabling customers to find accurate, professional information about their businesses—by optimizing their Google Business Profiles and other online listings on platforms such as Yelp, Apple Maps, and Bing.
Outside work, you can find Alexis chasing around her energetic young daughter, tending to her many houseplants, with her nose in a good book, or enjoying a cup of coffee. She also loves hanging out with her husband and the rest of her family, watching Formula 1, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves!
