Matt is a native of Dothan, Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama and earned a degree in Advertising, which proved to be a solid foundation for his career in the industry: Matt has worked in design and creative roles for both print and digital, publisher-side operations in newspaper, network, and sports verticals, media planning, and now digital strategy and execution.
As a child, Matt didn't do a lot of active participation in sports or activities, but he did watch A LOT of pro wrestling. He wanted to be a veterinarian when he grew up, and if you've read any of the other bios on this website, you've probably realized that Uptick has a disproportionately high number of employees who wanted to be vets until they found out it wasn't just snuggling animals all day.
One of the more intriguing parts of Matt's work history includes a couple of summers in Skagway, Alaska, where he worked for a train company in a cruise ship port. He learned how to make just about any type of coffee beverage during this time, which works out well for us as a company full of coffee addicts.
Outside of work, Matt loves to hang out with his wife, Rosie ("She rules!") and his son, Tuck. They have three cats named Samson, Margaux, and Toiley, and one dog named Zula.
