If you’re utilizing social media for your business (and you definitely should be), you may notice that it takes up a bit of your time. Searching for things to post about and crafting the perfect caption can sometimes take hours if you’re hitting a social media “poster’s block.” Creating a content bank can be the key to your social media success.
What Is a Social Media Content Bank?
A social media content bank is a place where you can keep all of the things you want to post on your social media accounts. It can be a file on your computer or a shareable folder on Google Drive. Think of a Pinterest board that’s highly organized and specific to you company’s brand: that’s a content bank. Paired with a content calendar, a content bank can make posting hassle-free. Here are a couple of tips on how to create a content bank.
1) Look to Your Brand
When creating a content bank, it’s important to look to your company’s brand for guidance and decide which aspects of your brand you want to share with your audience. For example, if you’re a cosmetic company and your brand is that ‘anyone can be a makeup artist,’ it might be beneficial to include pictures of customers using your products and other customer-generated content.
2) Gather All Existing Content
You know the saying “You can’t know where you’re going unless you know where you’ve been”? Yeah, it applies in this situation. Gathering all of your posts into your bank will help you get a sense of what things you should post. You may even be able to use some of your older posts as a Throwback Thursday.
3) Come Up with a System
The next step is to create a system that works for you. The “bank” aspect of the content bank is almost as important as the content. You have to first find a place for all of your content. It may be as simple as creating a file that’s labeled “Used” so you’ll know which posts you’ve done already. You might even use Google Drive so your content bank can be accessed by everyone on your team.
