Digital Advertising Specialist

Some Experience Required / Full Time

Reports to: Head of Digital Advertising

The Digital Advertising Specialist will fulfill Uptick’s customer-first, growth-oriented mission statement by focusing on helping businesses optimize their online advertising strategies. This person must be detail-oriented and strategic, demonstrate good time management skills, and work well with a team. Mastery of these skills will be important in order to launch advertising campaigns on time, stay on top of budgets, and work with Marketing Consultants (MCs) to manage ongoing client accounts.  

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Forecast search volume and preliminary keyword research (work with sales team to recommend advertising strategy for sales pitches & ensure that the entire advertising plan is tailored to different steps in the sales funnel)
  • Attend client kickoff meetings
  • Understand clients’ unique business goals
  • Help define advertising success (KPIs)
  • Set and attend weekly strategy meetings with MCs to decide on action items to manage client accounts
  • Work with AR to review unpaid accounts
  • Crosstrain other Uptick employees to create department stability 
  • Manage the Pay Per Click (PPC) process:
    • Obtain or create Google Ads account
    • Conduct keyword research
    • Strategize campaigns and ad groups
    • Write creative ads, or delegate to be written
    • Plan & implement conversion tracking strategy
    • Set up call tracking numbers
    • Launch in a timely manner and follow up
    • Weekly maintenance of accounts
  • Manage the Behavioral advertising process:
    • Build audience based on customer’s interests, search keywords, browsing habits and the sites they visit
    • Understand what conversions are valuable
    • Set up call tracking
    • Ensure successful campaign launch – budget, start date, location, specific geotargeting addresses, landing page, conversions, ads
    • Work with MC to monitor campaigns
  • Manage the Retargeting (Facebook and Web) process:
    • Follow process to set up campaign, which includes discussions with PM, MC, and Graphic Designer
    • Setup audience tracking pixel
    • Determine budget, location targeted, landing page, trigger pages being retargeted (entire site or only a few)
    • Set up conversions and call tracking
    • Launch successfully
    • Maintain / tweak accounts with MCs
  • Manage the Social Media advertising process:
    • Follow process to set up campaign, which includes discussions with PM, MC, and Graphic Designer
    • Add Facebook Pixel to client’s website
    • Build audience based on customer’s interests and demographics
    • Understand what conversions are valuable
    • Setup Conversion tracking
    • Set up call tracking
    • Ensure successful campaign launch – budget, start date, location, specific geotargeting addresses, landing page, conversions, ads
    • Communicate with the platform representatives
    • Work with MC to monitor campaigns

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in digital advertising, preferably with an agency or similar
  • Certifications: Google Ads Certified, as well as proficiency in Google Analytics, Retargeting platforms, Facebook Business Manager, Google Tag Manager and other industry tools (such as call tracking)
  • Outstanding ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work on a team and independently
  • Strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills
  • Ability to adhere to Uptick’s company values

Marketing Specialist

Uptick Marketing is hiring a Marketing Specialist to take ownership of Uptick’s marketing and communication efforts. This job may be a part-time position, or a full-time position if the candidate has other skills that could be put to use, such as copywriting or social media strategy.

Ideally, this person already has some experience in marketing and knows their way around a strategy; they should be able to work with Uptick’s team leads to develop an intentional plan involving content, advertising, social media, SEO, and design, even if they don’t have firsthand experience with those things.

This position will be very collaborative. The right candidate will be easygoing, personable, and cooperative. This is not a position where you will be taking the reins and making executive decisions; instead, we will be looking to you to head up our marketing efforts and really own Uptick’s public presence, including PR opportunities like awards and events.

Job Responsibilities

  • Guide Uptick’s advertising efforts, including behavioral, retargeting, social media, and PPC advertising
  • Work with the Content Manager and the Social Media Specialist to plan, strategize, and execute an intentional social media and blogging strategy
  • Work with the Director of SEO to create and implement a solid onsite and offsite SEO strategy
  • Work with the Design Lead to make sure our branding is consistent and updated
  • Create and send email blasts and newsletters regularly
  • Research and pursue PR opportunities, including contributions to publications, submissions to awards, speaking opportunities, networking, scouting and recruiting new talent, and heading up internal communications
  • Report on results of marketing efforts to leadership and adapt strategies accordingly
  • Provide feedback to team in order to identify or correct areas of improvement

Qualifications and Skills

  • 2-3 years of marketing experience strongly preferred
  • Understanding of social media, content marketing, and advertising best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to develop relationships with peers to support teamwork
  • Ability to interpret analytics and provide feedback on ROI
  • Familiarity with any popular CRM, such as HubSpot, SalesForce, ActiveCampaign, etc.
