5 Marketing Resolutions to Have for 2022

marketing resolutions

Goodbye 2021—and hello 2022! When you’re thinking about your New Year’s resolutions, you may want to think outside just hitting the gym, reading more books, or kicking that Oreo bedtime snack. By including marketing resolutions as part of your plan for 2022, you can see just how much your business can grow this year. There’s no better time than now, so keep reading for some helpful tips!

Resolution #1: Go With the Data, Not Your Gut

If you’ve been in the business a while, it can be easy to “go with your gut” when making business (and marketing) decisions. But with that kind of mindset, you’re likely to get stuck in a rut.

This year, make a marketing resolution to step back, look at the data, and make decisions based on what is working now (not what’s always worked in the past).

Resolution #2: Refresh Your Content

Take a look at your digital marketing content. If your website copy is a few years old, you haven’t posted a new blog in 4 months, and your social media is looking a little stale—then it’s definitely time to put a content refresh on your marketing resolutions list! This is how you’re talking to your audience, so make sure you put your best foot forward.

Resolution #3: Go With the Flow

Over the past few years, we’ve all learned how important it is to be adaptable. It doesn’t look like that kind of thinking is going anywhere either.

Make sure that your business (and your thinking) stays flexible. It’s also a good idea to continue improving your online presence to stay in front of customers. Here are a couple of ways to do that, but think about what would work best for your specific business and your unique audience.

  • Start a podcast. This could establish you as a brand expert, keep your brand top-of-mind for potential customers, or even bring you direct business.
  • Join a new platform. Look, you don’t have to be scared of TikTok.
  • Revamp how you serve customers. Maybe it’s time to start an ecommerce website?

Resolution #4: Think Outside of Your Business

This one may seem counterintuitive, but it’s essential. Customers today almost expect businesses to be socially conscious and responsible. There are a few ways you can approach this.

  • Take a stand on social issues (and mean what you say). A lot of businesses are still wary of this one, and that’s okay.
  • Be authentic and transparent about your company values. This could mean promoting a healthy work culture, a commitment to always put the customer first, or whatever else is important to your business.
  • Approach it from a community perspective. Donate to local charities or give your employees paid time off to volunteer.

Resolution #5: Get the Help You Need

Business owners know that having the right help can go a long way. Delegating is a valuable tool that can save you time, money, and sanity in the long run.

Be sure that you have the right team on your side, whether that means your internal staff or outsourced help. It can make all the difference.
