Jessica Woods traded sunny South Florida for Jasper, Alabama, right before her senior year of high school. While it may have been more her parents’ decision than her own, it turned out to be a signature move for her.
During her time at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), she started out studying nursing, then accounting, before landing on digital marketing. It turns out, throughout her collegiate career, she had been doing some kind of marketing analysis all along. She was already picking apart brands and thinking about how they could promote themselves more effectively long before she ever declared her next (and final) major. A couple of pivots and a healthy dose of self-discovery later, that curiosity turned into a genuine career passion: Helping businesses tell their stories and connect with the right audiences.
Jessica actually got her start at Uptick as a junior in college, interning on our Local SEO team. She stuck around for a part-time gig her senior year, then came on full-time after graduation, expanding into social media management and paid social advertising. Along with picking up multiple Google Ads certifications, she was named AAF Student of the Year in 2024 (no biggie) long before she ever had a “specialist” title.
These days, as our SEO Ads Specialist, Jessica’s expertise spans social media management, social ads, and Local SEO. What does that entail exactly? Oh, just anything from optimizing Google Business Profiles to perfecting ad campaigns, and keeping social calendars running smoothly. She makes sure every piece of a client’s marketing puzzle fits together just right. Plus, her knack for details, organization, and problem-solving makes her the go-to teammate for anything social-related. Seeing a business finally connect with its audience thanks to a carefully calculated strategy is what gets her excited to log in every day.
Outside of work, you can find Jessica on a run, at the lake, or taking a spontaneous day trip to one of her favorite cities close by, like Nashville. She’s also got a ray of sunshine named Zoey, who also identifies as a golden retriever. Between her drive, curiosity, and upbeat energy, it’s easy to see why Jessica is such a great fit for the Uptick team!
