A Google Ads invitation allows you to approve access for a user or a manager account. Open the invitation email and click Accept. You can also sign in to your Google Ads account and navigate to Admin > Access and security to approve the pending request. You can then choose the access level, which you can also remove at any time.
What a Google Ads invite is and why it matters
- An invite is a request to access your account.
- You need it to allow an agency, teammate, or manager account to help manage campaigns and billing.
- You control who gets access, what level of access they have, and for how long.
Accept an invite from email (fastest)
- Open the invitation email sent by Google Ads. It will look something like this in your Gmail inbox:
- Click Accept invitation.
- Sign in with the Google account that owns or has admin rights to the Google Ads account.
- Review the requester and access level.
- Click Accept.
Tips: If the link doesn’t open, copy it into a browser where you’re signed in with the correct Google account. Check spam and promotions if you don’t see the email.
Accept a user invite inside Google Ads
- Sign in at ads.google.com.
- Go to Admin > Access and security > Users.
- Open Pending invitations.
- Review the requester and access level.
- Click Accept.
Accept a manager account (MCC) request
- Share your 10-digit Customer ID with the agency or partner.
Send only the ID. Do not share passwords. Confirm the company name and email domain before proceeding. - Wait for the manager request, then sign in to your account.
Go to ads.google.com with the Google account that has Admin rights for this Google Ads account. - Open Admin > Access and security > Managers.
You will see any Pending requests at the top of the list with the requester’s name and manager account ID. - Review the requester and click Accept.
Check the business name and access level. If anything looks off, click Decline and ask them to resend to the correct account. - Confirm the link shows as Active.
You should see the manager listed as Active under Managers. The agency will now see your account in their Accounts view.
Note: Only Admins can approve manager access links. You can remove a manager at any time by navigating to Admin > Access and security > Managers. If the request was sent to the wrong account, decline it, share the correct Customer ID, and have the agency resend the request.
Pick the proper access level
- Read only: auditing and reporting.
- Standard: campaign edits without admin controls.
- Admin: complete control, including users and links.
- Billing: billing and payments access.
Tip: Start by allowing Read only access for simple audits that do not require adjustments to any data or information within the account. Upgrade when you are ready for active management.
Security and best practices
- Never share passwords or recovery codes.
- Verify the requester’s email address and company name.
- Grant the minimum access needed.
- Review active users and managers on a monthly basis.
- Remove access as soon as the engagement ends.
Troubleshooting
- Invite not received? Check your Gmail inbox’s spam and promotions folders. Ask the sender to resend.
- Invite sent to the wrong email? Decline it and request a new invitation to the correct admin email.
- The invitation shows a ‘Pending’ status to your invitee, but you don’t see it in your account. Switch to the correct Google Ads account from your profile menu.
- Expired invitation? Ask the sender to resend.
- Manager link sent to the wrong account? Decline it, share the correct 10-digit Customer ID, and have them resend the request.
- Accept on mobile: Open the invitation in a mobile browser and sign in, or accept from Admin > Access and security in the app, if available.
